Date Reported: 2013-04-22 03:39:50 | Department: Police Formation and Command

Office/Company: POLICE FORMATIONS AND COMMAND
Transaction: Drivers Licence
Bribe Type: Personal
Detail: it was at night of that fateful day, i live in festac and i just wanted to hurrily buy fuel for my generator, at a close fuel station, while driving and got to the police station road, i saw a lot of cars parked and been searched, they ordered me to park, which i did. and my boot was searched, and he asked for my driver's license. i remembered i left my wallet at home because it was inside it, i only took N1000 out of it. so i explained to the officer that i forgot my wallet at home and that my license was inside it, but he said then i have to settle him, and he brought me out of the light of the road and said i should better give him the N1000 or else they will park my car. so i was scared and i gave it to him.. so ever since i have always carried my drivers license. but the extortion is still going on at that road at night, and from what i learnt, road blocks by police have been abolished, so i dont know why they are still there.

Transaction: Traffic Offence
Bribe Type: Personal
Detail: I got a call while driving and cleared to the side of the road to receive the call when i was blocked by a lastma vehicle with registration number RT259LA. The marshals told me to wind down and immediately i did, the turned of my ignition throught the window and forced me out of the car. I hurriedly entered the back sit and was taken to there office at cele busstop. I was later told that there was a no parking sign along that path but i tried to explain that i wasnt parked but instead just cleared to receive a call. I asked to see a superior officer and i was directed to see a man called ZEBRA. i narrated my ordeal and he told me to just go and settle with a junior officer before i am given a ticket. After all appeal, i was finally made to part with N5000. From my over 3hrs stay at their station, many cars with different stories came in and all of them had to go through the same process of parting with money with no receipt to show.
