Date Paid:
2-6-1998 12:08:37 | City: Ibadan
Date Reported: 2014-06-02 07:12:27 | Department: Police Formation and Command

Office/Company: POLICE FORMATIONS AND COMMAND
Transaction: Road blocks
Bribe Type: Corporate
Detail: BODIJA, IBADAN - Let me share an experience on this police egunje that has remain indelible in my mind. It was my first year at the Polytechnic Ibadan. I drove out early enough that day cos I was rushing somewhere. The time was like 6.45am. I got stopped along Bodija-Secretariat Road. I complied cos I was confident I had all my car papers complete. After like 10mins of checking everything, they were still not satisfied cos they wanted me to grease their palm. I stood my ground and after another 5mins of grammar, they finally said I had no C-Caution and that I must followed them to the station. I complied and we went to the Bodija Housing Police Station. When we got to the station, they quickly informed the DCO that I was stubborn. The man said I should be charged to court for endangering... But he needed to see a senior adult from my side first. A friend of my dad accompanied me after some hours later. The story changed totally when I came back. To cut the story short I was coerced into paying N1000 in 1998 with prostration for the DCO.

There is a Junction between Akoko and Kogi State, partly Edo State. The Nigerian Army Men in that Junction are so perfect that they do not collect the money from driver. They have employed a civilian. A young guy in casual wear will walk close to driver and the driver will drop 100 Naira or above to their agent. I do not know the exact name for the junction but immediately you leave Akoko, the junction links Ondo.
