They just stop people and collect money from them, I was carrying my goods in my private car and they stopped me and said where is my road worthiness, I brought it out and showed them. They now said that since the goods in my car was for commercial purposes that I will have to produce a commercial road worthiness certificate. They collected N6000 from me without any ticket whatsoever, they just pocket the money. This happens all the time along this particular road.

#2,500 Egunje to LATSMA Official
Date Paid:
30-5-2013 11:17:19 | City: Lagos Island
Date Reported: 2013-05-31 07:37:56 | Department: Transport

Office/Company: MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT
Transaction: Traffic Offence
Bribe Type: Personal
Detail: Members of the Nigerian Police Force & LASTMA Officials did a sweep through Broad Street Lagos Island upon the instruction of the State Government and towed away vehicles that were packed on the CLEARLY MARKED & ALLOTTED PREMIUM CAR PARK SPACES that cost #200 with a supposed Lagos State Ticket! A full "offence" fee according to the officials is between #50 - 80,000 naira (depending on if your car is towed or driven away!). Naturally, I opted for the choice of begging my way out at the "token" fee of #2,500. SMH!
